Baotu Spring
Baotu Spring, Located in the Old City of Jinan, the Scenic Spot of Best Spring in the World was rated to be a 5A scenic spot in August, 2013.It covers an area of 3.1 kilometers, consisting of one river, one lake, three springs and four parks.
One river refers to the city moat. One lake is Daming Lake. Three spring groups include Baotu Spring, Five-dragon Pool and Black Tiger Spring. Four parks are Baotu Spring Park, Huancheng Park, Five-dragon Pool Park and Daming Lake Scenic spot.
The Baotu Spring Park is located on the southwest corner of the downtown of old Jinan City, with Thousand-Buddha Hill to the south, Daming Lake to the north and Quancheng Square to the east. The park is home to a cluster of about 27 named springs out of a total of 72,which the city is famed for. Among them,Baotu Spring is the best-known to visitors , hence the name of the park.
The pool of Baotu Spring is rectangular, 30 meters long, 18 meters wide and 2.2 meters deep. The spring spurts 1.5 cubic meters of water per second from three openings day and night, presenting a wonderful sight.
The Chaoran Tower in Daming Lake
It’s located by the bank of Daming Lake, with a height of 51.7 meters and seven floors. It enjoys the reputation of “the first tower in the area of North Yangtze River” because it’s so magnificent and imposing.
It was first built in Yuan Dynasty and thus has a history of hundreds of years. Many precious things are exhibited here, including the 8-meter-long “the first wood carving in the area of North Yangtze River”etc.
The Black-tiger Spring in Huancheng(Round- the- city) Park
Located at the southeast corner of Old Jinan city, the Black-tiger Spring faces the Liberation Pavilion across the ancient city moat. In earlier years, below the steep cliff was a deep concave, in front of which stands a dark green megalith, from under which the spring water gushed out.
It seemed that a black tiger hid itself in the deep cave, hence the name. From three stone-carved tiger heads, the spring water streams into the square pool and then enters the moat, just like a waterfall. Consisting of 15 springs, the Black-tiger Spring Group is one of the four major spring groups in Jinan, whose water discharge is the largest.
The Qianfo Mountain
Qianfo Mountain is one of the three major scenic spots of Jinan with elevation of 285 meters and area of 151.8 hectares which named as Li Mountain, Shun Mountain and Shungeng Mountain by ancient. At the beginning of Sui Dynasty, the government engraved many buddhas based on the mountain and built “Qianfo Temple”, the temple was renamed as “Xingguochan Temple”, that’s origin of Qianfo Mountain. Since the beginning of Yuan Dynasty, the temple fairs were held both on “3rd, March” and “9th, September”. In Ming Dynasty, the temple was extended and became a well-known Buddhist sanctuary. It was constructed as a park and appointed as the province's key scenic spots in 1959. In 2005, it was assessed as the state AAAA-class tourist attractions.
